Comparative Government Through Film Fall 2010: Blog #6: 2nd Marking Period Research Project - Mod...

India has been a place for men, women, and children to be abducted and trafficked for forced labor and prostitution. India has one of the largest trafficking problem men, women, and children are held and are forced to do labor working in brick kilns, rice mills, and embroidery factories. Women and young girls are trafficked in India for mainly purposes of sex and forced marriage especially in those areas where the sex ratio is highly in favor of men. Children are also sometimes forced to work as factory workers, servants, beggars, and other types of hard labor workers. They also have been used as soldiers by some terrorist groups.
India is also known for women and girls from Nepal and Bangladesh used for sexual trafficking .Children from Nepal are sometimes sold to people in India for forced labor in circus shows. Women from India are trafficked to the Middle East and all over for prostitution an pornography. In India most families are very poor and don’t have many sources for money. So in some cases young girls and young boys will have there parents give them up for money so they can survive. While there children are forced to be used as sexual figures or are used to work hard labor. The Indian government has found that around 1.2 million children in India are being used as prostitutes. Which is around the entire population of Dallas. This statement makes it clear that child prostitution in India has become more than just a serious issue its destroying the lives of many young children who did not ask to be born into a world were they would be taken advantage of. These kids should be learning in schools instead of having there innocence taken away from them in order to survive.
